How did Duck do that? Just put his feelings aside and slip into whatever someone needed him to be?
That's Duck to a T. Of course, Duck has Buddy's number too - French Moments - haha!

As always a great insight. I loved Buddy's thoughts about Duck and about what Dan sees in him and what Duck sees in Buddy and so on. It was so true and I think you managed to catch Buddy's less flattering qualities and his sometimes uncharitable thoughts without risking to expose him to dislike of the reader. Because he has that side to him and I like that he knows how Duck balances him in that way.
Most of all, I was really enamored by your quiet and perceptive Duck when Buddy finally manages to ask him. This is the same Duck we see in the movie when Carol has her little breakdown and I don't think it's quite so easy to capture this quiet intensity he has. But you managed to lay another Wilby moment out for us. Thanks :)

Ohhh, I like that observation a lot. Yeah, I wanted to end with Buddy's pov to balance out his character. In PiC, Duck's pov makes it seem like Buddy is just this awesome guy who's always on his side, which is true, but just like Duck has all these insecurities and such that the other characters don't know about, Buddy does too. I also think that Buddy is rather harder on himself than he needs to be, and he is underestimating what he brings to his friendship with Duck. :)
I'm a little worried about how, after all the side stories, Duck might be given this sort of 'saint' status, but I think he already had his say in the main story; I didn't want to pull him back again. The series is about Duck and Buddy anyway, so I thought it'd be best to end with Buddy.
Thanks so much for reading and commenting! :)

Hehe. It is obvious that you love Duck very much ;) But as you said, he had his say in the main story. And Buddy's evaluation of him had to be that bit more flattering :)
