I love this. It's ground covered often but rarely this well; this makes it new for me, and rings absolutely true.

Jack's thinking, Meaning of life stuff, Jack!, and he has to excuse himself -- that's where the owwwch got me in a big way.

Jonas fascinates me, partly because he has a lot of qualities that early seasons Daniel had. I would have really liked him to stay one more season, to tell the truth. A) b/c I like him and B) b/c ascended Daniel was very cool and they could have done much more with him.

He notices people using the fine point pens that Daniel had preferred. His eyes catch on plaid shirts in a crowd. He hates going to the deli now, because the owner always fusses with his glasses with that squinty look. Watching a movie is almost a schizophrenic experience, as Jack fills in Daniel's commentary in his head.

I love that whole paragraph so much.

It was sort of a lose-lose situation with Jonas. If he got it wrong, well he was no Daniel; and if he got it right he was too much like Daniel.

OMG, I'm getting sad now! *picks icon*

Yay, I'm so glad you liked it! :) And of course Jack is wrong, wrong, wrong about Daniel not coming back, so it's all okay. ;)

Yeah, Jonas had it really tough. He stuck to his guns admirably, though. I'll bet after the shine of "Daniel's back!" rubs off later on, Jack will miss having an archaeologist who does not argue back. :D
