What you want is a wireless repeater.

You could just buy a Range Expander ... something like this:

You put it at the edge of the signal, it receives it, amplifies it, and rebroadcasts it. It should work.

i'd still like it to work on a laptop.
i know there's software out there that does it, and it's prolly free. free is a good price. ^_^

As the previous commenters said a wireless repeater is what you need. but what is a wireless repeater? the following link will explain it all.

My initial thought is that it should be the wireless router that should be centrally placed but I'm going out on a limb that is very thin and will probably break very soon telling you this.
