Crutch

it all boils down to it being a matter of faith. There comes to a point where the mind must stop and the heart takes over. This is where we need to study the lives of the saints. Then we will realise that our questions are really not new ones at all.

awhile ago i saw elie wiesel on television. he was in canada speaking to a group of lawyers (yep).

he spoke very profoundly. these words still ring through my mind: 'there is a story of despair that does not end in despair.'

he was a holocaust survivor and writes so powerfully of his experience in a few books ('night' being the most famous).

i thought of that statement when i read your post. he speaks about the fight for meaning and narrative and words in our culture of death and chaos. he argues that there are such things as these (words that have meaning and stories that are real and true).

hugs.

i am not fighting, but am trying to seek for understanding. but it has been hard, the effort of reworking the faith. it is despairing. i was musing with a friend, what kind of person will we be in three years time in this process of faith reconstruction. i am waiting, for new frame work of understanding.
