I stopped after 3 or 4, myself.

I was also hooked on the Thieves World series, until it fell apart.

It started out really well. Short stories by various authors all in the same world, with some interweaving of story. Occasionally you'd read the same event from two different perspectives in two different stories. Then it started turning EPIC and god-infested and that killed it for me at the time. It might not now. YMMV.

I think it will make a good video game. The city and the layers of story will make for a good experience, especially if it's multi-character and the characters have access to different intel based on their classes.
