There was a feature on the Blue-ringed octopus was on some show I was watching a few weeks ago. The main thing I remembered was that line about the venom being powerful enough to kill 26 people. It was freaky-yet-cool to see one move around on the show. They also had a bit on the Cuttlefish.
Shows on sea creatures never get old. They're usually a good mix of being amazed by an animal's design or wondering why nature would create such a horrible floating nightmare of a beast even though it's damned awesome.
Just like in Holland, no one drinks Heinekens. It's horse pee, and they've got much better beer.
Australia also has some wicked land critters I saw on a nature show - a nasty poison spider, cane toads, etc. Plenty of chances for the fittest to survive.
Those cone snails are nothing short of amazing. Think of a tiny snail - not the fastest creature - being able to actually harpoon! and paralyze a fish and eat it alive. Their toxins have been the subject of a lot of medical research in the hope of finding better drugs for things like chronic pain. But gods help you if you get stung.
