Anthrocon and the media

Jun 22, 2012 23:20

So I have been thinking hard about whether I wanted to write this up or not.  I've gone ahead and done so, but I want to put the disclaimer out there.  What I'm about to talk about reflects ONLY my interactions with the press related to Anthrocon.  It's not an attempt to try and say "This is Furry.  Here is what the press needs to say about the ( Read more... )

Thank you SO MUCH for offering us such generous levels of access and personal insight to the event. The podcast is scheduled to go online next week, and I think it's arguably one of the most engaging episodes we've ever produced. It's going to be an extended, 85 minute episode, and it should be online by Friday morning via www.bit.ly/ScareHousePodcast.

Thanks again - we were honored and touched that you took so much time out of your busy schedule to answer our questions.

It was my pleasure. I hope you'll join us next year. As our friend from the Trib Review mentioned...it's all about friendship. And I hope we've made some new friends with you. Perhaps we can even see if one or more of the Verdun Manor wolves can appear. :)

Scott, Thanks for the opportunity. I look forward to tuning into the podcast. Have a great haunt this year. I'm already making contacts to get a guest appearance in a large haunt, semi local, in GA this year. I'll not have the Verdun head this time. It pains me not to use it any more but I want to preserve it in hopes of maybe getting it reworked one day and redo the body. As KP mentioned, there are the whole body Verdun wolves that even worked the Verdun manor out there. Hopefully they'll find their way back to Anthrocon. Now those guys would be great to interview to recall what it was like at the original haunt.

It's good to see that the press is actually taking the time to explore the convention and actually learn something from its attendees rather than just hang out in the hotel lobby or even just outside of the hotel and say "nice costume, can we get you on camera for a quick moment" or any BS like that. I think more major venues even outside Pittsburgh should do the same. :0)

Most excellent!

Someone once asked "who are they fans of?" "they're fans of each other!"

Saying it's about friendship is much nicer.

Furry was on the leading edge of "social media" with furry BBS and roundtables and newsgroups. Many furs met "virtually" on-line, using Furry Cons as the nexus to finally meet IRL (In Real Life). 'tis all part of the tangled web we've woven, with infinite paths to traverse.
