Writer's Block: Same Name

May 18, 2009 08:40

Yes, a couple of times.  My given name, maiden name and married name are quite common.

Makes things like doctor's visits, work and credit reports difficult at times.  Things on record get mixed up easily.

I make sure the birthday date and SSN are mine before I sign anything.

There are so few people with my surname - and even my first name is relatively rare, only seen in my age group at all!

So, I would be stunned to match anyon at all - world-wide!

All of my names are as common as Smith or Jones here in the States. So I get mixed up with lots of others with the same name. Scary thing is at the doctor's, they start talking about surgery. Thankfully, they had the wrong file and the other person with my name was having surgery and not me. It one reason I love my online name. I have never run across another kudagirl.

I googled my name not too long ago and what came up was another woman (in CA, I believe) who is a writer. She's a reporter, I think. There was also one somewhere else, but I don't recall what she does that got her noticed. Of course, my married last name is quite common in some parts of the country, and there's nothing original about Patti - there are six of us just in my building at work! :)

Generally most of the Sharons I have met were born in the fifties. I've only know one or two who weren't. Most Sharons have the middle names of Ann or Lynn. My mom picked both of my names out of a book at the hospital. They hadn't planned on having a daughter. My middle name is Elaine which is not used often with Sharon. My maiden name and married name(which I kept after my divorce) are very common.
