I have lived most of my life in Texas. I love it more than any place on earth. This post is about Texas so if you are not interested pass on by. My uncle sent this to me. He lives in Arizona these days and misses Texas dearly.

And of course Jared, Jensen and Christian Kane, with an accent I can never capture to write them either. Well I can with Sam and Dean, but Lindsey, Eliot or Chris, just too strong.

Amy Acker shouldn't be forgotten either!

Good to know you are as proud of Texas as I am of Scotland!

The Texas accent is a bit different than a Southern accent. We tend to have a soft, slow draw. Sounds a bit lazy or relaxed. Lindsey's accent is different depending on the scene. When he is doing the lawyer thing, it sounds like he cleans it up. When he is charming someone, it drips like honey. Texans tend to use the accent to charm or fool someone. They use the good ole boy sound to snare their victim. LOL. Yes, I am very proud of being a born and raised Texan.

Yes, James said he auditioned using a Southern Accent at first on Spike, because he thought it would sound sexy, then they asked for the British one, Londoner, and that had a more dangerous edge so that was what they went with.

I seem to remember that Joss asked him to use a Southern accent and then decided to have him use a British one. It went well with Juliet's Drusilla so I think they went the right way.

Oh, we would have a wonderful time. I would take you all over to see just what Texas is like. I would pour you ice tea and treat you to a chicken fried steak.

Did you know that there was a huge number of German immigrants that came to Texas in the mid 1800's? That's when my German side of the family came to TX. The areas around Austin look very much like Germany. I didn't realize till I moved to Germany and found the customs and land to remind me of my family here in Texas.

I've read Texas by James A. Michener (but that was quite some time ago, when it came out as pocket book in German - 1986, 1988? I don't want to look now). So I don't remember much.
I remember a lot of Germans in Pennsylvania, but that's about it. I remember you telling me about your German family though.
Otherwise I've seem a lot of films about the wild wild west; though that isn't the same as history.

Pennsylvania Dutch is really the Germans who settled there. Many towns in TX have German names like New Braunfels, Fredericksburg and Luckenbach. I grew up close to a town that has a fest each Sept. It is very much like the fests that I attended in Germany. With the beer tents, foods, and street dances.
