It's based on a book series. Like Buffy it has two vampires and a girl. Stefan is very much Angel. While Damon has many traits of Spike. So it's a very shippy show with lots of angst. LOL!

Damon and Elana have always had something - from their first meeting, haven't they? And, "that" dance!!!

I tend to think that the sire bond is never a big issue with Vampire Diaries - Caroline has never had an issue with hers.

I do love the brothers v Elana storyline though ... but still vote Delana!

It bugs me that Stefan is very controlling and Damon is okay with whatever Elena wants. Yet, Stefan is the fav while Damon is the devil. I think they are reaching here making it about a sire bond. Elena really had feelings for Damon, but felt she should be with Stefan so that's why she chose Stefan. Damon was willing to disappear, but Stefan didn't want him to leave. Stefan is the one who is always telling Elena how to feel, think and be. Damon is happy with Elena just being still being here.

It's very Angel = Stefan while Spike = Damon to me. Buffy was always to wary of how others viewed her, but Elena often surprised me.

Yes the Angel/Spike story is so there - yet, Elena does make different decisions from time to time.

I loved how she stayed with Damon when he was dying ... and actually comforted him.

The sparks were there from the start IMHO, and although Damon has pushed, teased and annoyed, he has also stepped away.

It has certainly meant for some great story lines - even if I am annoyed at how controlling Stefan can be.

It made me laugh and feel a bit better about the whole thing. So many sites are pushing Stefan as the best guy and I just can't buy into that. He is whitewashed like Angel was. He's a hero till he flips a switch to become his other side. When he switches back to hero all is forgiven. Very Angel.
