Not sure what the original person meant sandwich maker. I'm guessing it is like a panini press. This is the one we have. It has ridges on one side of the grill, but you can flip the plates and it has a smooth surface. You can use that as a griddle.
Ah, ok. the first looks like a multi-purpose electric grill, which I used to use all the time for tuna melts and grilled cheese. I remember my mom having one with flat sides (may have been a reversable waffle iron) that she used for grilled cheese sandwiches. The "sandwich maker" label just caught me off-guard.
