Ranting about my job.

If you have ever had to work in any kind of customer service, you know how odd, stupid or just down right rude people can be.  Just in the last two weeks I have had to deal with some winners.

My goodness! What a bunch of loons! LOL! It gets very tiring when confronted like that though.

Mmm...hugs and cookies! Yes, it's part of why I am not around much anymore. My brain is fried when I get home. I just want to nap all the time.

I don't know how you do. Customer service is something I would not be good at. I'm fine online with selling on eBay, because I can curse and make hand gestures at the idiots who email me, and they don't see it. Then I can walk away for an hour before I compose a calm and respectful reply. LOL.

I try to not get upset. Sometimes it isn't easy. We do tend to laugh at them after they leave. I'm sure all jobs have their own special moments. I almost fell down when the photo lab person told the customer she was done talking to her and she could talk to a manager instead. It was all I could do not to laugh.

The great thing about customer service? People never stop to surprise you.
Just when you think you've seen and experienced it all, some other weirdo comes up.

Try explaining to little old ladies that the grocery store doesn't have this and that product anymore. It doesn't magically disappear just because they wave a rather ancient looking wrapper/carton/whatever at you. You pull it from your top hat just because they have always bought it at the store.
Sometimes it's hopeless to explain to them at the products will get a new design from time to time without actually being a new or different product.

Oh... biggest laugh.. people actually rather buy the body lotion in the decorative bottle because it's working better than the same product in the regular bottle..

I so understand that. People do not like change. I've been screamed at, spit on by a kid and had one kid throw up on me.

Once a manager made a customer mad about a weed eater. The home office called the manager and told him to get a weed eater off the shelf and go to the customer's home to edge their yard. He did it. He refused to talk to any customers after that.

Yeah, some of them are really clinging on to the "customer is king"-thing.

once a lady called the store to have the bike repaired she had just bought.
A repair guy was notified and they would let us know when repair would be the area.
The lady was called with this information. She already started to raise her worse, how was she supposed to get the bike back to store since she had a bad back. The argument went back and forth, how about calling a cab suited for transporting larger objects etc. It really was ridiculous as she always kept telling, she couldn't leave the house because of her back. Then why a bike anyway?

Still don't know how that story ended *scratches head*

I hate bikes. The customers seem to think they are allowed repairs forever. How did she get the bike home in the first place?

A bride put her mother's address on her online registry. The gifts from online where shipped to the mother's home. Seemed the mother and daughter lived in different states. The mother started to ship the gifts to the daughter, but it came to a very expensive amount of money. She came in to the local store demanding we pay for the shipping. We didn't do it. People are just stupid sometimes.

Omg! I feel your pain. I refinance auto loans for a living and I swear people can be so idiotic. You try to explain things to them in a logical manner and it doesn't matter it's like logic escapes them. I've been shouted at, cursed at, called every name in the book and sometimes I wonder do these people really think that behavior is okay. My friends tell me I just have to accept the fact that people are crazy.

You have to have a good humor and not let it drive you crazy. Logic means nothing to some people. They want their way and that is it.

I heard about the fun to work in customer service before....
no fun, most of the time.
My working mate has a friend that has money. But yet she tends to buy and bring things back. She's that kind that she wears the stuff and then complains and bring it back. No fun to have her as a customer.

People do that sort of thing all time. Most of them get away with it. Guess it's a way for them to get their kicks.
