Gods, big and little

In relation to some story I've got brewing, I've been thinking a lot about Gods as metaphors for manifestations of power, particularly in specific places, i.e. San Francisco, since that's where I'm living these days. I think of this one as being nation-wide but perhaps it's stronger here in southern cal: BEAUTY. What people will do for it astonishes me. (Of course, i'm someone who doesn't even bother to shave my legs.)

Oh, that's a great one. Definitely stronger in SoCal, at least as far as reputations go, but going strong in SF, for sure.

I've been trying to think about what physical embodiments of these things would look like. Not sure what beauty God with all her nasty undertones would be like.

I heart that and want to read that story!

I've been writing about Gods lately, well Goddesses mostly, as hive entities. I just subbed a Singularity story where Demeter is the Gaia Hypothesis Gaia and Persephone is Techno Gaia.

It's a theory put forth by biologists James Lovelock and Lyn Margulis that life on earth and the weather n stuff self regulates like a giant superorganism to keep the conditions on earth able to continue supporting life:
