I kind of just wanted to read about more hotels; because there are others that I know. Your hotels are a contagion. There's a New Orleans hotel, I think, that I've heard of, or that I've read.
We've never shared one, have we? I was thinking about what it would've looked like, if we had. For some reason, I can only imagine you at sixteen, cross-legged on the floor, by the window (the one that is always above the air conditioning unit). Maybe with a bottle in your hands, but I don't know what's in it and I don't think it is alcohol. Soda, water, something innocent.
I think it is interesting, because I don't think it has happened, but I can make it vivid, almost real. Fits into your idea about "re-entering familiar territory," no? I think this is a story, wherein hotels are a cipher for history or memory. This post is an example of one of the many things that I like about you, because it is quiet but it is dense.
Thanks for making me think, even if you didn't mean to.
You know, I never really thought about how many important events in my life involved a hotel room and how comfortable I am every time I get to stay in them.
And it's definitely a Get To situation. Absolutely not a Have To.
Last thing I was expecting was to see my name included in the plethora of hotels you have stayed in. Although the one we went to in Atlanta was by far better I must say even if it didn't include a stolen blanket.
