The tech guys are usually like that. A few months ago when I had issue with my Outlook, he cleaned out my address book where I stored all the addresses that I use regularly. I yelled at him, but the damage was already done. I had spent a good 4 hrs to refill that again. :(
I think it should be made standard operating procedure for these guys to analyse the impact of their actions first. That wont happen, though, as training expenses would go through the roof for these techs.
What I will do in a similar situation in the future is to tell the tech guy beforehand to not do anything without saying what he is doing -- and I will analyse the impact before giving him the go-ahead.
Oh that would not work, cause I dont get the same techie person everytime. And sometimes they rectify when we are not at the desk. They just leave a message saying they would do it over night. *sigh*

I found out yesterday that MS Office Tools has one application that allows users to save their settings -- now am using that.
In fact, am so paranoid now that I made changes to Outlook -- saved. Made changes to excel -- saved. Made more changes to Outlook -- saved.
Thankfully am done with reconfiguring my Outlook and Excel (the two biggest ones). Will tackle the other applications as and when required.
