Glad to hear that your mom arrived safely! That's certainly not a guarantee these days--sounds like a lot of people will be spending Christmas in airports :(

Traditionally, we've always had the same thing we have for Thanksgiving. The first few years we did Christmas in Florida, we did Parmesan chicken, which was different but also not something we usually have (we found the recipe in a local cookbook). This year, I suggested doing something different, because the turkey is SO much work for Mom and takes up half the fridge (or so it always seems), so we're having ham. Not my favorite, but still less work and something out of the ordinary. I think she's going to do a sweet potato thing, too (not sure what--we don't usually do sweet potatoes), and I'm making a green salad, which is good because usually we manage to skip the veggies almost altogether at the holidays, which strikes me as a Bad Thing.

And that's gotta be way more than you wanted to know... sorry about that!

As you know, the Young family does a cold-cuts buffet. Potato salad, deviled eggs, pickles, olives, vegetables & dip, chips & dip, punch. Oh, I can't wait for it to start!

Interestingly, the Italian tradition is that you have 7 different types of fish on Christmas Eve. We usually only make it to 3, maybe 4, but all of it is hellish for me, because I can't tolerate the smell of any kind of fish. So I usually have beef or pasta.

Walnut pate en croute. Plus a brown sauce and a tasty vegetable of some description on the side.

WHAT work on the 24th? That is so not on.

But anyway... Merry Christmas hun! :)

Traditional Christmas meal is seafood (shrimp & a fish... haddock, this year) on Christmas Eve, and a roast on Christmas. I partake in the former but not the latter. ^_^ Oh and we always have Christmas cookies and for some reason a cheesecake on Christmas day lol.
