So yesterday I spazzed and made up a Tin Man AU centering around the police department of Topeka, Kansas and their fight to keep the streets safe up until the sidewalks roll up at 6 pm. I have dubbed it "Twister City," because the cool thing is to take a city and make up a nickname for it. Or something *glances at K-ville and Boomtown*
Anyway, there's no turning back now. I have a
title card and a proper theme song.
Wait for it.
"Dust In The Wind." By KANSAS.
This will be EPIC if I actually write it. Which I won't. *glances at the Vegas fic and Mrs. Ambrose*
*FADE IN* Open pairie highway, a blue pick-up truck hauling a rented trailer. Cut to the cab of the truck, where JEB CAIN, 14, is gazing sullenly out the window from the passneger seat. Driving is his father, WYATT CAIN, 35, staring straight ahead.
CAIN: It's gonna be different now. The city isn't like Hays, you're gonna have to watch yourself.
JEB says nothing, just looks more sullen.
SMASH CUT to a flyover of a small, riverside city.
VOICEOVER: Topeka, Kansas. Population: 120,000.
CUT TO an office in the police station, CAIN in a chair, LT. LIONEL RAWLINS, 38, stands by the window.
RAWLINS: Crime is constant, if you know where to look.
CAIN: I do.
VO: Protecting the people is an elite force.
CUT TO hallyway in the staion, CAIN is walking with his partner, THOMAS TUDOR, 40.
TUDOR: I been on this job fifteen years, I seen everything this city can do. You better not underestimate it.
VO: A team with one goal.
CUT TO the lab, AMBROSE LEFERVE, 32, swivels away from a microscope.
TUDOR: This is Dr. Ambrose LeFerve, forensics analysis.
LEFERVE: Call me Glitch.
CAIN: Why?
LEFERVE, with a wink to TUDOR: Because "pain in the ass" was taken.
VO: To uphold the law on these mean streets, by day-
SERIES OF CUTS: someone jaywalking, a bottle being thrown from a car window, a meth lab bust, a youth stealing a "slippery when wet" sign.
VO: -and night.
SERIES OF CUTS: a club with bright lights and pounding music, a meth lab bust, sillouetted women on a street corner, a body falling in the river.
VO: Handing out justice to those who defy it.
CUT TO courtroom, DOROTHY GAILMAN, 27, questions a witness.
DOROTHY: First you say you saw the defendent blowing the stop sign, now you're not sure. Which is it? Why are you changing your story?
GENE LONNET: Objection, your honor!
MARVIN WAYZARD: Overruled.
VO: While holding their lives together.
SERIES OF CUTS: WAYZARD drinking from a bottle of bourbon, DOROTHY painting a landscape, LEFERVE in the dj booth at the club with CAIN looking on.
VO: Against all odds.
CUT TO crime scene, CAIN finds a "Z" written in blood on a wall.
CAIN: He's here.
TUDOR: Who?
CAIN: The man who killed my wife.
CUT TO Mayor Lavender Queenly on the steps of city hall, perhaps five reporters in front of her taking notes.
QUEENLY: The law enforcement of this city is honest.
QUICK CUT TO an envelop being handed off to TUDOR.
QUEENLY: They are moral.
QUICK CUT TO a latex glove being snapped on, LEFERVE smirking.
QUEENLY: And dedicated to preserving the good name of Topeka.
QUICK CUT TO a door being kicked down, CAIN bursting in with his gun drawn to discover DEMILO in bed with two women.
QUEENLY: I trust them to have the best intersts of the citizens in mind.
QUICK CUT TO the office, DOROTHY in a short skirt and heels perched on RAWLINS' desk.
QUEENLY: As should we all.
SMASH CUT, overhead crane shot of what looks to be a crop circle in a sunflower field, the MAIN CAST arranged in a semi-circle looking grimly up at the camera. FADE OUT to "Twister City" sunflower logo.
VO: "Twister City." Prepare to be blown away.
*BOWS*
ETA moar: Ambrose? SO went to
Washburn. I mean look at the
mascot for God's sake. ETA yet moar: or he would have if they had a program for forensics. Damn me and my research. LOL nevermind, it can still work!
