And now I go off on a Fitz-kick. I fully blame wishfulaces and her ship manifesto. But I'm reading over the original profile of Fitz and this one excerpt from "The Taint" makes my brain implode (again), because Fitz IS the begonia:

The original french in the book is "On peut apprendre d'un grand homme męme lorqu'il se tait." which actually means "There is something to be learned from a great man even when he is silent."

Although I think what you put above makes a ton more sense.

And I can totally see Eight speaking French. (Rather hot, that.)
