on self-portraiture

I'm sitting here getting annoyed at the ridiculous faces people pull when taking pictures of themselves. I used to be as guilty of it as anybody. Probably still am, sometimes. But these days I get embarrassed if I publish anything vaguely "myspace-y" (you know what I'm talking about ( Read more... )

Whenever I try to be normal in a picture, I end up looking retarded. You have seen this to be true.

Does "fart" mean something in German than it does it English?

forgive me, I actually know the answer to this. ^^;

Yes, to travel or drive actually. It's rather hilarious to see signs stating the word along highways. The word is "fahren" and you may remember "farfegnugen" (a made-up word by VW) incorporates a piece of it.

Fahren is the formal word, when conjugated in a sentence, it can become farst and fart (informal, third person).

I should have known that, what with my five years of studying German, which have apparently gone to waste! :P

I don't think I ever knew that "fart" was one of the forms of fahren, though; I always thought the H stayed. I'm certain I'd have remembered that--always giggling over bodily functions! Haha.

That seems right to me too. Perhaps it was a misspelling or the person did indeed mean the word fart by American standard.

OMG! That is freakin' hillarious. You made me laugh so hard, and I really needed that.

I too am guilty of looking "myspace-y", as you put it, in some of my self portraits. I usually end up taking a picture of myself with my arms folded across my chest and one eyebrow raised up as if I'm trying to say "how you doin'?"

That picture you linked to is classic. LMAO.

I'm just concerned for this girl because someone has stolen her eyebrows and replaced them with sideways parentheses.

...Maybe that's what she's looking at, actually. You probably look pretty silly when you're searching vainly for your eyebrows.

Couldn't agree more and LOL at your comments regarding such.
Yeah, it's a whole new universe of shallow and look-at-me types, where I'm often left going, even if they look "cool", "...and?" Like what else do you do with your life?
