Help?

Okay, so I finally have access to a good microphone, but I have no clue what I'm doing. I can make recordings, but there's no way I can make what I need in a single take. Can someone help me figure out how to merge sound clips on a Windows computer? I only have access to a basic sound recording program, but there has to be a way, right?

I believe most fancasters use Audacity. The Audiofic Archive how-to is an excellent resource.

Thank you so much! I didn't know where to get Audacity, and the guide is helpful as well. I had been planning to link together clips, but now I know more about how to do this. Hopefully my dogs won't be barking off the walls while I"m trying to record. :)
