Nino pretty much ran out of the apartment as soon as he could, feeling stupid, not because of the things he had said about Matsu, or that he had overheard him but because he was jealous that Aiba had obviously already slept with him. He was just turning the corner to the lobby when he crashed into Toma who was just coming in, fresh bright love bites doted on his neck.
“Nino? Is everything okay?” He asked, for once there was no trace of his huge friendly grin, Nino nodded
“Everything’s fine” He lied “I’ve got the early shift, oh if you’re going back in Aiba’s got company and the guy I brought back is in there”
“O-Kay… He brought Matsumoto back…” Toma said fitting the pieces together quickly, Nino gave a small tight smile and nodded again
“Yep”
“Crap, Nino you should tell Aiba…”
“Tell Aiba what? I used to drool over his crush… It’s not like I had any claims on him…”
“Nino…” Toma said and Nino held up his hand stopping him from continuing.
“I really have to go… There isn’t anything wrong since there wasn’t anything between me and him was there… Come on he didn’t even recognise me, I’ve been pouring his coffee nearly every day for a year” Nino mumbled wondering why he felt like crying. Before letting Toma see that he forced a smile and continued his way out of the building.
That day Matsu didn’t come to sit at table 4D but Nino couldn’t stop his eyes from going there hoping to see him but praying he didn’t. Just as he was about to leave at 2o’clock Ohno turned up and beamed at him brightly.
“What are you doing here?” Nino asked
“Your roommate told me where you worked and as I was working in the area I thought I’d come and see you” Ohno shrugged “You ran out in a hurry…”
“I had work” Nino shrugged
“So it had nothing to do with the fact that you said all those things about a guy you obviously have a thing for?” Ohno asked flashing a sleepy smile, and Nino knew he blushed, a deep embarrassing scarlet despite himself. “You should relax, I think he only heard a few bits of it… And he looked hung over…”
“Why are you being so nice?”
“You let me top” Ohno beamed, giving him a board wink that Nino guessed was completely out of his character. But then, he thought, he was getting over a break up, and no matter how much he pretended he and ‘Sho’ had been close, really close. “Are you finished? I want you to come somewhere with me”
“Where?” Nino asked raising an eyebrow.
“You’ll see” Ohno said mysteriously and Nino shrugged, deciding that if he was going to kill him he would have done so last night. He still sent a text to Toma, just in case.
He thought that Ohno would have a car or something but instead they headed towards a bus stop
“You don’t drive?” he asked and Ohno shook his head
“Nope, Sho used to do that” He said tightly leaning against the plastic wall of the bus stop.
“What happened?” Nino asked landing on the seat with bump.
“He cheated on me” Ohno mumbled with a sigh “He said it was ‘only once and it would never happen again’ but once was enough”
“You know I’m not the best person to understand this… I’ve been the ‘other guy’ more than once” Nino told him honestly and Ohno nodded.
“I know, but it all honesty you’re the best person for me to get back at Sho with…” He said looking at him apologetically. Nino let out a laugh.
“I see, well if you want to make a guy jealous, I’m good at that” He said, his eyes flashing playfully “Just tell me what you want me to do”
“Thanks” Ohno grinned as the bus pulled up. As they rode across town Ohno told him a little of his relationship with ‘Sakurai Sho’
“We’ve been together since college, I kind of thought we’d always be together, I guess I was an idiot for believing that” Ohno gave him a sad smile, and then looked out of the window before continuing. “I work as a set painter for the theatre so I travel a lot, a week ago I came home early from and I found him in bed with another guy… They were still going at it…”
“Fuck” Nino spat, thinking back to the guy he had seen Ohno with, he honestly didn’t look the type. “So that was your reason for hooking up with me?”
“In all honesty, Sho doesn’t like you or your type of person so…” Again there was an apologetic smile and Nino let out a laugh.
“I was using you too, and I’m not really into the whole relationship thing” He told him patting his hand
“Not even with ‘Matsu’?”
Nino’s smile froze and the light in his eyes dipped for just a moment “N-No… Not even with Matsu” He said. Ohno went silent looking out of the window until ringing the bell and standing. Nino pushed away his feelings and gave a cough as they got off the bus. “So how do you want to do this?”
“Just be yourself, Sho already knows your reputation…”
“Okay” Nino grinned at him linking their hands as they walked to the apartment building.
“Satoshi, you came back” Sakurai said as he opened the door.
“Only to get my things” Ohno mumbled pushing past him and dragging Nino with him. Nino gave the muscular guy a bright grin as he was pulled into a living room
“You? What are you doing here?”
“Oh-chan’s one of my friends” Nino shrugged, accenting the ‘friends’. He put his arms around Ohno’s waist and kissed his neck “You should get your stuff, babe” he whispered softly running his hands over Ohno more than he would have normally. It seemed to be having the right effect as Sakurai’s yaw tightened and his eyes narrowed.
Ohno vanished into what must have been the bedroom, while Nino flopped down onto the sofa making himself at home.
“What the hell are you doing with Satoshi?”
“I told you, his one of my friends…”
“No way… Satoshi isn’t like that…”
“Oh yeah? He screwed my brains out more than once last night, maybe you just stifled him?” Nino said. Sakurai’s face was a picture and Nino almost felt guilty, except he was enjoying this at least he wasn’t thinking about Aiba and Matsu. Sakurai opened and closed his mouth a few times and with a sigh Nino stood up and went into the room Ohno had.
Ohno was sat on the bed looking at a photo tears rolling down his cheeks. Nino sat next to him on the bed taking the picture he wiped the chubby cheeks and kissed his lips.
“Thanks” Ohno mumbled with a smile grabbing his half full bag.
“Come on Oh-chan” Nino said taking the bag from him. Sakurai was sat in a chair staring at the table, he looked up as they entered and Nino gave Ohno’s hand a small squeeze going to the door.
“Satoshi, don’t do this, not with him… You know what he’s like…” Sakurai said softly “I’m sorry for what I did… You can punish me all you want but you deserve better than him”
“That’s rich” Nino mumbled darkly from his position by the door.
“So I deserve someone like you? Who pretends to love me but then fucks someone behind my back?”
“I do love you” Sakurai mumbled “I made a mistake…”
“Yeah, you told me…” Ohno said and Nino was impressed at how calm he was managing to keep his voice. “If you loved me you wouldn’t have slept with that guy…”
“Sa-“
“Babe, are you ready, I really have to get back” Nino said, it was a lie but Ohno blinked and ran to him. Nino could tell that Sakurai wanted to stop him so he quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the apartment.
“Thanks” Ohno said as they got into the elevator.
“Anytime… What are you going to do?”
“I’ve been staying with my sister” Ohno answered in a soft voice. Nino nodded humming to himself until the elevator reached the ground floor.
“Well if you ever need a ‘friend’… You know where I am” Nino said deciding to flag down a taxi and head home
“You too” Ohno grinned clutching his bag and going to the bus stop. Nino smiled before squaring his shoulders knowing that he would have to start dealing with the reality of Matsu and Aiba.
