Follwoing up the post from the other day: not only are they shooting the X-Files movie this winter, but Fox thinks it will be out over the summer.  Wow.  That's a quick turnaround.

Also noted is that the story will be a stand-alone, supernatural thriller.  So no alien conspiracies.  I'm not sure if that means it will take place after Mulder and ( Read more... )

So I just finished watching the whole series, and right now I'm wondering if this movie really is a good thing. We can't really expect them to be welcomed back into the FBI, let alone any other agency. So this will have to be resolved, plus now that they are a couple I think some of the sexual tension/frustration which helped make the show will be gone. And don't get me started on the lack of Lone Gunmen. All I am saying is that Chris Carter better not destroy the series he created like Mr. Lucas has done.

See, to me, Chris Carter already pulled a Lucas. He completely blew it (he skated a pretty fine line with season 8 but pulled it off, season 9 had some good episodes, but was muddled, at best -- Lone Gunmen, Spender, the baby). So for me, this is a chance for him to redeem himself. The show could start off with the FBI coming to them after the pilot and getting them to solve something CREEPY and still be a stand-alone but within continuity-type thing (double points if the something CREEPY has something to do with their child -- the ending of that storyline also really bothered me).

(And dude, no sexual tension/frustration because peoople are now a couple? C'mon, Hollywood myth!)
