There's some links (here and here) about X-Files 2 today and what Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz are saying make me very happy:

This film will pick up six years after the end of the series.  It's supposed to be a standalone feature removed from the alien mythology of the TV show, a throwback to the show's "monster of the week" episodes.  Still, ( Read more... )

I saw the second trailer today.

The point where the music kicks in, I got CHILLS. Swear to God.

By the way Carter has hinted, STRONGLY, that a third movie may well happen in time for 2012 and fun with the Mayan calendar:)

I did read about that. And it makes me very VERY happy. I always thought that the way they presented that whole thing was an incredible cop-out.

And I caught a version of the trailer, too. It looked better than the other one. Why hasn't it been released, do you think?

Gradual step up of the promo material, I suspect. Quietly, this has been a very quick, very efficient shoot.

I mean, we're what, start of April?

The things out in July. That's very little turn around time and I suspect that what we're looking at here is a film expected to punch extensively above its weight.

Plus Billy Connolly! Being a bit crazy! Awesome!

They're shooting for it to be a sleeper, no doubt about it.

Not sure they'll get the same opportunity if they get to make #3, but hopefully they'll be able to use it to their advantage some.
