That said, he resumed his normal speaking voice. "I'm curious, what is it about the place that appeals -- the normalcy? The neighborhood?" He pushed the realtor's brief away from him.
Glass firmly in hand he gestured towards the pool, "This is not you."
He swiveled on the bar stool and looked directly into Kronos' eyes. "The house and grounds, from what we've been shown, they're beautifully kept. The subdivision is more than solid and the land appreciates more each year."
He took a sip. He didn't need to remind him how well he knew him. He decided to get to the heart of the matter. It would be something glaringly obvious to Kronos and that was the information he needed. "What is it I'm missing?

"Maybe I want to start a music career." He grinned but it faded quickly. He downed the rest of his drink and leaned an arm on the bar while crossing one leg lazily over the other. Of course his brother was right, it wasn't him in any way. But he'd desired it, and for Kronos wanting was enough justification for taking. "I want it." He refilled both their glasses. "You don't think it suits me?" he said in an uncharacteristically tentative way

"Can you see yourself seriously living here, in this neighborhood, this subdivision, this city, this part of the country?" He was on roll now.
"Unless what you're planning is to settle down here and get friendly with locals, maybe making this the base of your future operations?" The thought of it was too much and he gulped the rest of the drink and soundlessly placed the empty glass on the bar.
As he thoughtfully studied Kronos' profile, he knew there was more he hadn't been told yet. "What is it you really want?"
