It never ever fails...I make a hair appointment...it rains. Today is the only day I can get my hair cut and I need to before I go down to Kincardine for my cousin Andrew's (YEAH...My mom was REALLY original when she named me Andrea. :| ) wedding. I don't remember a time in the past two years that it hasn't rained when I went to get my cut. Oh ( Read more... )

I wouldn't worry too much about English grammar vs. Latin grammar -- since English is a Germanic language (and thus not descendant from Latin), they really should have nothing to do with each other. Only in the 17th and 18th centuries, or so, some guys decided that since Latin was the language of science and all, English grammar should reflect that. Thus the "don't split and infinitive" rule (which is stupid, because it's impossible to do that in Latin anyway, as infinitives are only one word, whereas in English they have two) and the "don't end a sentence with a preposition" rule (which I particularly hate in English; in French, that's just how things roll). Not to get started on the whole prescriptive vs. descriptive grammar debate, but I've always loved the line that illustrates how silly it is, supposedly from Winston Churchill: “This is the sort of English up with which I will not put.” http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/churchill.html

Churchill always makes me laugh. Brilliant drunkard that man.

I know that English isn't derived from Latin (there are a lot of words borrowed from French or Latin), but it is important, when translating, to understand tenses in English, which I do not. I can do tenses in French but not in English. :P

As I read your comment about being good at Dr Mario I thought the exact same thing. I used to kick ass at that game on my gameboy... maybe I should have been a pharmacist.

We should open practice together.
Dr. Andrea and Dr. Lisa...I like the sound of that.

Only if we do it in South America. I don't want to actually be trained or anything.

A really great doctor...

Or just really great at stuffing people with so many meds, their head will explode before they can say "Wow, this Doctor is really taking care of me! She's actually giving me shit!"
