I've been ignoring this journal for two years and forty-odd days.
During that time, I finished writing exactly zero works of fiction. (Though I did scribble quite a bit, don't get me wrong.)
On the other hand, I DID finish writing my dissertation. And got my degree. They spelled my name right on the diploma and everything. Yay

I think you're doing the exact right thing on the writing, and I ought to do the same. Obviously, it takes practice to improve, and after a while you can't help but get better. This is common sense, but how common is that?
You haven't missed much on old LJ, by the way. I understand it's the Numero Uno journaling site in Russia! So I imagine it'll stay around for a while, its English-speaking users tapering slowly down. Picture a slowly abandoned city, empty windows but some still lit, while the New Quarter is populous - and alien.

It could come back, you know, the way run-down neighborhoods sometimes wind up being gentrified instead of bulldozed!
