Sunday afternoon

Not feeling grumpy, for the first time in years.

It’s the little weirdnesses. Like the fact that some of my fave shirts are no longer “work clothes,” and I can wear them anytime. Or that I can plan yardwork for a weekday morning. That I can get away from my desk by walking outside, maybe pulling a few weeds.

Busy times ahead--trying to not overwhelm myself. But to have all those prime hours of the day back is just so nice.

The co-worker who left back in March said it took about three weeks to sink in. Then it felt as though a weight was lifted from his shoulders. He had a much higher pressure job than I did, but I think part of brain still thinks that this is just a long weekend or a week's vacay, and that I will be going back eventually. It's sinking in by inches.

It's been since Dec. 2011 and it's still sinking in for me. And I'm loving it more every day.

Guess it's supposed to rain. Taking Gaby to the vet for her annual. Hoping for no complications there.

I went through the same thing. For me the big thing was not freaking out when a winter storm was coming. I didn't have to get up early and dig out so I could go to work. I could just enjoy being snowed in. ;-)

I've thought the same thing. No more worrying about the weather, or whether the plows have had time to clear the roads.
