Idol week 4 - Gretsky

She left the racecourse that day with a spring in her step. She had a couple of things in her bag to add to her ebay account, and hadn’t had to pay for lunch or drinks. And she had an invitation to meet Mitch in a couple of days to catch the ferry to Manly ( Read more... )

I think it's really ballsy that Topaz lists her takings on eBay. I'd worry about being caught doing that, but she is so casual about it. She's such a planner, though, that I'm going to trust her judgement.

Between this and Mitch's perspective from break week, I'm really enjoying watching this unfold.

I'm not sure that I would necessarily do what she's doing, but it seemed to fit, so why not! Hopefully I keep up with the prompts...

I really enjoyed this --especially using the prompt as inspiration for a thief to be a better thief! Even pick pockets want validation and inspiration, so why not a hockey poster? I also liked the idea of a wait-person using the job as cover for laundering money. Great idea!

Thanks. I'd like to think that Topaz is trying to make the best of a bad situation, and trying to get out of it as quickly as possible.

I wouldn't have thought of a racetrack as being good stealing grounds, but it probably is. People are distracted by other things, and there are a lot of them around.

Ebay! That seems very bold, though the phones perhaps could be anyone's, so could say for certain that it was theirs?

I'm guessing that the ebay tag was a bit of a stretch, but it seems more user-friendly than a slew of pawn shops. And I'd just like to point out here - this is NOT from personal experience ;)

A smart thief doesn't get caught! Sounds like she's being smart :)

Hopefully - I'd like to think that she's learned from the whatever experience that got her into this in the first place.

Such a reversal here of how most interpret this prompt...or perhaps a purely obvious interpretation from someone in such a line of work! Great job here!

Thanks. I just couldn't get ice hockey into a story with such an obvious other sporting theme, and I couldn't do the same thing as with the baseball reference.
