When i decided to start being active in live journal again, I thought it was going to be sorta fun but it really sucks because no one post or comments or anything.
I really like postsecret.  I would love to go to see them, but I looked at there event calendar and there not coming to LSU or anywhere close for that matter. I like things like that and ( Read more... )

I didn't know Postsecret was a show. What kind of show is it? If I think of any good book ideas I'll let you know. Personally, I think it would be cool to be able to say that I wrote a book, but for now I'm much happier being a consumer than a creator.

I would go see the Postsecret guy with you!! Damnit, always forgetting your coolest cousin, shame shame Nikki...

I wrote a tonnnn of short stories when i was young. One of my favorites was Schmee and Me... yeah I was a weird kid... I wrote it on a plane when we were going somewhere I don't remember. I think there was something about talking chopsticks in there....

I used to think I'd be a kick ass writer, until I realized how pissed I got when the "creative juices" aren't flowing. Makes you feel like poop. Sometimes it's hard to find a muse.

I think any of the Breaud kids would be able to write some amazing books that would touch the hearts of America. Do it Nikki, and write my name in it somewhere when it's published.

i think its a great idea to write a book about things that YOU have gone through. I know it made you feel uncomfortable but I think it does exactly what you're trying to accomplish. You want to show kids about some of the things that other kids go through so they can realize that other people are going through this stuff too. And yes, one or a few chapters would be able mom and so what... it's your life and that's how you feel, she would just have to get over it. But think about all of the other things in your life that have happened, and what's going on for you right now. I think you have a lot of things to talk about that would help many people feel better. Think about whne you read postsecret. Do all of those things apply to you?? (I hope not-- i found a dead spider in my pubes?!?) Of course not all of them do, they only apply to some people, and they make some people feel TONS better. I think that woudl be the same for certain people that read abotu waht you had to say. If you're absolutely set on the fact that you don't want to ( ... )

I agree with Alli, all authors, even novelists, draw on real-life experiences that they've had when they're trying to develop characters or stories. Wisdom and knowledge come from the things that you've been through and learned in your life. Even if the book isn't technically about you, you can use all the things you've been through (such as having a character whose sister is really annoying, but she has an awesome boyfriend and that makes her want to hang out with her more often).
