HALO awards interview

We managed to do a little catching up with your season eight “American Idol,” Mr. Kris Allen on TeenNick’s orange carpet. Here’s what he had to say about life after American Idol, the HALO Awards and find out the charity that is his closest to his heart for a very personal reason:

So now that you hold the title of season eight American Idol, I bet life has totally turned upside down for you. What’s it been like?

A lot has changed for me! It’s just been a complete 180 turn-around. Before American Idol, I’d be back home hanging in Arkansas and I’m now getting opportunities to go to things like this and hanging out with you guys at the HALO Awards, so it’s pretty cool.

How’s your newfound fame inspired you to do your part for the community?

I’m actually here with Donor’s Choose tonight, which is a website that school teachers can go to and submit their projects in order to get supplies for their classroom, or money for field trips, or whatever they need, as in financial help. So me or you could go on to the website, www.DonorsChoose.org and donate money to specific things for teachers and schools.

What made you choose this organization?

Well, my wife is a schoolteacher, so I guess this charity is personal to me. I remember this year when we were trying to put together her room, I was helping out a little bit and we actually had to pull some funds out of our own pockets and pay for supplies, which is totally fine and a lot of teachers do that these days, that shouldn’t have to be the case, though. Lets give teachers some help.

Who are you most excited to see tonight?

I’m excited to see the kids! I’ve done award shows before and you meet celebrities and that’s awesome, but I’m excited to meet the kids who are winning the awards tonight. They have to be the most inspiring kids ever. I just want to hang out with them and talk to them about their organizations.
