For your viewing pleasure, I give you the Tally for 2x06, "No Exit." Ah, Jo. Remember her? Curly blonde hair, red-and-white/plaid/farmer's-daughter shirts? Oh good, 'cause this ep is pretty much about her.

I have always appreciated your tallys, but this one makes me very, very sad. :(

It makes me sad when people rag on female characters - Jo was badly written.

Yeah. That's kinda what I'm saying. Badly written, one-note, not a developed character. I'm not being harsh on her because she's a girl, but rather because she's a bad character who makes Dean act unlike himself. It's an opinion, which I occasionally allow myself to have.

I like Jo, but I hate Dean/Jo. I'm fine with her having a big crush on him (hey, who could blame her?!) but I'm not a fan of the idea that he's going to "come home to her" or that she's "waiting for him." For example, BUABS is a Jo that I like.

Thank you!! :D

Given what we've been through in S3 (DALDOM and LDC) it's clear that these are Daddy issues that - pardon the expression - don't have a chance in hell of being resolved. Ever.
Yes. I think that's true, and I'm glad that Show acknowledges that fact. Dean has healed enormously - more than at one stage it seemed possible he ever would - but emotional scars as deep as his simply do not go away. Bless him.

You know, I think this is what makes the recent backslide even more painful - knowing how far he's come since the pilot... *smishes Dean*

thx! I actually like Jo, but I realize that the writers don't really know how to write female characters who interact with the boys on a regular basis...

I've heard (or maybe it was read...) Alona Tal say that she had a much more kickass idea of who the character was supposed to be, then the first day on set they started curling her hair. I love Jo in BUABS - she's finally standing on her own, not a pissy daughter or an annoying sidekick. I like mature Jo, which of course is the exact point when she disappeared from the show!
