Oh hell yes.  Maybe this is old news to some of you, but I just saw it and it made me jump the hell up: a solar panel more efficient than coal is going into production.  I've been dwelling on the Grim Meathook Future lately, so something like this perks me right up.  It's one more step.  There are a lot of steps left, but every step gets us closer ( Read more... )

Aw fuck yeah. This basically makes up for the Stirling concentrators looking a bit like vaporware. Let's cover the country in this shit while we still have the oil to make it.

Neat if true as advertised, but keep in mind that pop-science reporting oftens gets things very, very wrong, particularly when it comes to the significance of what's being reported. That's why it's painful for me to read most articles about physics nowadays.
