Things I've learned recently from getting back on my bike:
- I'm not as out-of-shape as I thought. I just need to eat and rest properly; when given that I can push pedals all day.
- I spent 20 miles riding with my parents, both of whom are in much better shape than I am - so when I say "with," I mean "behind." The view didn't change much - it reminded

I had recently written a poem about cycling for a poetry class. I did this knowing that the prof. was an avid cyclist, but not because of it. He asked about this, and wondered if I was a cyclist too. I told him I was, and that I biked about 70 miles a week (to and from school 7 times). "Wow," I thought to myself "phrased that way, it sounds like a lot. I mean... 70 miles!" "Yeah, he replied, I do about 35." (beat) "It's about 18 both ways. But I usually wimp out come winter. It's just so hard when it's 40 degrees and raining at six am."
I slunk off with my tail between my legs.
BTW- belated 'rats on the coming out- I hadn't known they knew.
