Weird question for Canadian friends...

Ok, Canadians. Question:

Does the news in CANADA actually care about Trudeau's politics? Because pretty much everything on this side of the border is articles about how he's a hotty. It's...weird.

Yes, the news does! Although pre-election another party ran ads about how he's so young with the dag "Justin Trudeau... he's just not ready". Like, the man isn't 18.

Anyway, our news services mostly hover waiting like vultures for him to fuck up, because that's what they do to all our political figures, and also talk about every little decision he makes to death.

And, amusingly, our pundits comment on how weird it is that foreign press comments on his looks.

At least during campaigns it's normal. There were some trying to say Obama was too young his first time around, and the Bush campaign ran attack ads against John McCain saying he was unfit because he'd at one point seen a therapist for war-related PTSD (ironically coming from the campaign of a draft-dodger)

It IS weird. Pundits are right this time. I feel like heads of government and state deserve more...hmm....not respect, neccesarily. Off the top of my head I can think of four national leader that I wouldn't give water to if we were lost in the desert. But at least acknowledgement that they are leaders rather than models. One or two rag mags I would understand, but this is like the entirety of the US press. O.o
