Merry Christmas friends!

I hope everyone had a wonderful day - or at least managed not to strangle any family members ;)

I figured I'd keep it simple today and share a Christmas tradition from my family:

Ooooh, that sounds incredible.

I just finished one round of bourbon, but now I'm not sure what I want. Seconds? Or something else?

It's pretty sweet, but that's also adjustable when making it yourself :D

How about some bourbon with a tsp of honey?

I actually don't like overly sweet drinks. I like my bourbon neat, or with one ice cube.

And... ZOMG, Arisia's so close. I miss you and Jaime!

Bourbon with honey is Jaime's favorite cough suppressant - I like it 'cause it cuts the bite juuust enough for me to really enjoy it :)

3 weeks til we get to see you and your wonderful wife! <3

Merry Xmas! Hope you had a good day :)

I have a question about the raw eggs. Do you try to pasteurized or organic-style eggs? I'm not usually paranoid about food safety (I won't leave out milk or meat on the counter and then eat it if it's questionable, but I don't sanitize using bleach on the counters if meat touches it either). I've watched Alton Brown's eps on raw egg usage, but I'm still unsure. Or does the whiskey take care of potential pathogens? /rambling

I did! And I heard that your dinner was well received - congrats! :D

I generally rely on the whiskey to take care of any potential issues. Also, a trick I learned from acromantular is to wash the eggs before you crack them, to prevent any contaminants on the outside of the shell mixing with the raw egg when you crack it. Between those two things, I consider myself covered. That, and we've never had an issue with the drink in the however many years my mom has been serving it :)
