Do you like historical fiction? http://www.amazon.com/Empress-Orchid-Anchee-Min/dp/B0024FAOQ4 is one of my favorites. The Chinese names might be a bit hard to follow, bit it is a fascinating read. The Empress's life in the Forbidden City is so alien that it might as well be a fantasy novel.
