Since the birth of weather satellites NASA has been the only organization that had them, and Europe bought images from them. The satellites were geostationary, which means in plain English that they were stationed above the equator, and that means they don't get very good images from the north and south pole

I don't think it's NASA per se that says these things about the satelites, there's probably a fair bit of gvt. input. Sadly the US believes they can do whatever they want across and above the planet no way in hell are anyone allowed to criticise them................
