European bureaucracy

I know as Americans we think we have bureaucracy bad. But it's really child's play compared to European bureaucracy. I used to think it was only Southern Europe that operated this way, with such maddening degrees of pointless precision. Very realistic. I was rooting for her! I have been in her position many times. This is not only Europe: South America is the same.

Except for anything related to immigration, visas, and similar stuff, I have always said that bureaucracy in the US was painless and efficient.

I love the sad sap in the beginning who walks out of the bureau with such a defeated look on his face.
