What do you think the nearest Bay Area equivalent is? Our dive bars are not-so-divey by most standards, but there are still definitely places that have a backwater feel.
I really wouldn't call Bonham a dive bar. It's the most popular gay club in town on Fridays, when well drinks are still only $1.50. Thursdays are slow, so it has a really dive bar feel those nights, but Fridays it's a really huge party.
And to answer your question, I don't think there's anything like it in the Bay. Not if you account for the vastly different atmospheres of the Thu-Fri-Sat sequence.
