Title: Kris Allen is an Evil, Manipulative Brat
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 923
Summary: Adapted from the prompt: "Adam is a DJ and hates American Idol, but his station forces him to play the music/interview winners. He particularly hates Kris Allen. Will Kris charm him over the next few months?" This is their initial set-up of that. I hope you enjoy!

Adam sighed as his boss came in, tossing a file on his desk, and collapsing into the chair across from his. "What now, boss?" he asked, rolling his eyes. "Which starlet got caught with cocaine this week?"

"Need you to cover this."

Adam flipped open the file, scanning the information and frowned. "Isn't it in my contact somewhere that I don't do Idol? I could have sworn that was written last negotiating period."

"Adam, don't be such a diva." Alisan rolled her eyes. "His manager specifically asked that you cover this."

Adam read a little further before groaning. "Kris Allen? Seriously? Can this assignment get any worse?"

"Read further."

Adam did as told before slamming the file down on his desk. "No. Absolutely not. I won't do it. There is no way I am spending a month with him."

"Adam, you don't have a choice. Kris' management went to the Big Boss… who you know isn't exactly fond of you. He said you do this or you and I are fired. Adam, I like you and all but I'm not losing this job because of you."

"So I have to follow a whiny, self-absorbed brat for a month to keep my fucking job? Screw that. No job is worth dealing with him."

"I'm hurt, Lambert," a voice said from the doorway. "Thought we had developed a bond after the last time you interviewed me."

Adam looked up, glaring at Kris. "Why? Why me? I thought I made it obvious that I want nothing to do with you."

Kris sauntered into the room, perching on the chair next to Alisan. "They gave me a choice. You or Gokey. I chose the lesser of two evils, obviously."

"Glad to know that when it comes down to between me and Gokey, I at least am a little bit better," Adam muttered to Alisan, continuing to glare at Kris. He raised his voice, asking, "I still don't understand what this is all about though. Why are you having someone follow you around any ways - for a month?"

Kris sighed. "Management, of course. Someone had the brilliant idea that I needed to be more available to the mainstream audience."

Adam looked at Alisan questioningly. That didn't make much sense to him - how much more mainstream can one get after winning American Idol? True, Adam hated the show and it's winners but that was because of their cookie-cutter stamping. Each Idol had been exactly alike - pretty voice, pretty personality, pretty face - and the clone idealistic was the something that Adam had a problem with.

Alisan shook her head, voicing Adam's thoughts. "More mainstream than you already are? How?"

Kris looked down at his hands. "There's going to be an article coming out. This is basically damage control. Everyone knows Adam hates Idol, so we figured that he - or Gokey, who just hates me - would be a good way to prove I'm not like what they're saying. Go on tour with me for a month and meet the real me, et cetera."

Exchanging another glance with Alisan, Adam asked, "What will they be saying then?"

Kris raised his head, meeting Adam's gaze steadily and Adam swallowed hard at the look in Kris' eyes. "That I'm a cheating, lying asshole, despite the fact that I never once cheated and that Katy was the one who came up with the lie. But she is America's sweetheart. I'm just the singing, gay ex-husband."

Adam felt his jaw drop. Gay? Kris Allen was b>gay?! That changed things. "Okay, say I follow you around for a month. What's it going to be prove."

Kris shrugged half-heartedly. "That I'm not the bad guy in this? I don't know, that's a question for my management." He blushed a little, looking back down, his voice softening. "Adam, I know you hate me-"

Adam interrupted. "Not you exactly, more of I hate what you represent."

Kris looked at him, confused, before continuing, "Either way, please do this. The label's going to drop me if I don't do exactly what everyone's wanting and they think that this is it. I just want to make music."

Frowning, Adam crossed his arms, thinking about it before looking at Alisan to get her opinion. She smirked, nodding and muttering, "It's our jobs, too."

Finally, he sighed. "Okay. I'll hop on your little bus for a month. But I make no promises that I'll end up liking you."

Kris beamed, bouncing out of the chair, and Alisan laughed, standing as well and slipping out of the room silently. "Thank you, Adam!" He exclaimed, coming around the side of Adam's desk.

Adam looked at him, what the- his thoughts abruptly cut off as Kris tugged him up out of the chair and threw his arms around Adam. Awkwardly, Adam hugged back, trying to ignore the way Kris felt against his body, how perfectly they fit together. He tamped down the unexpected arousal, groaning inside as he felt Kris' breath against his skin.

"You don't know what this means to me," Kris said quietly, not releasing Adam. He shifted a little closer, wrapping his arms a little tighter and Adam's moan froze them both. With a wicked smirk on his face, Kris raised his head, rubbing against Adam carefully. "Oh, this is going to be fun." He eased away, trailing his hands down Adam's arms before ducking out the door.

Adam stood in his office, breathing hard and remembering the look in Kris' eyes. Fuck. The month was certainly going to be interesting, if nothing else.
