Just read pt. 2 from another link. My heart just breaks for them! (And who discovered them? Would Neil be so cruel to send Kristopher to possible death--or Katherine?)

Keep in mind that although Kris is scared, military service was a very traditional path for sons of the gentry. Neil is actually doing Kris quite a favour, socially speaking, by recommending him (again.) Kris wanted to be in the Navy when he was younger, and could have MAYBE, with a little help, gotten a position on a ship as a midshipman, if his parents did a lot of sucking up and letter writing. Yet his dad, probably wisely, put the kaibash on that.

Neil was out of town when the "discovery" took place, so you can tell it's Katy. Neil had already ridden to discuss Kris's situation with the Bishop, so her discovery had no bearing on what Neil had decided to do. You'll see what becomes of her discovery, though, early in the next chapter.

This is beautiful. While I wait for part B, I have a couple of questions/suggestions:
1. Will Bradley Bell make an appearance?
2. Please please show us the interaction of Katy, Kris and Adam living under the same roof.
3. Are we going to see any of the other idols?
4. What will happen to Neil at war?
Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I really think 5 parts aren't enough to tell such a great story with such complex characters.

part b will answer some of your questions. I am not sure if any other idols will make an appearance, my thought is no. I sort of did that with Devilstone, eh. If the cameo makes sense I would.

Bradley will make an appearance, he's slated for part 4.

Well, each part is about 12k words, which puts the whole thing at 60k. Which is as long as a book! I know that when most people say "part"
they mean like 2k, so you need to sort of look at it that way.
