Kris let out a contented sigh, leaning into Adam’s warmth as some nonsense movie played as background to their comfortable silence. In his head, he was freaking out, wondering just how he was so tangled up in this guy he barely knew, but Adam was already a safe place for him, like Tommy or Alli or Aiden… Maybe I’m just getting desperate. He grimaced at that. Because I don’t have too many people that I feel like this with, I’m opening up to the first one night stand that shows a littlest bit of interest past sex. He rolled his eyes at himself. I really need to prioritize my thinking patterns, I need to not think about this right now. Adam’s here and everything’s fine.

He tucked his face into Adam’s shoulder, to remind himself of exactly what and who he should be thinking about, and smiled when Adam curled an arm around his shoulders. It was quiet for a few more moments before Adam turned off the TV, making the room go dark. Kris’ heart picked up speed at the intimacy of it. He let out a puff of air and untangled himself from Adam. “I… um…” He ruffled a hand through his hand, standing up and putting some distance between the two of them. He let out a breath when Adam clicked a light on, smiling at Adam’s slightly worried expression. “I’m fine… just…”

“You’re not used to this.”

Kris smiled; this was why he liked Adam. Adam seemed to get him. At the same time, that’s what made Adam dangerous, he seemed to know Kris too well. “Yeah.” He swallowed when Adam clicked his tongue and opened his arms. He hesitated a moment, then went back to Adam’s side, not moving in as close as he was before, but near him.

Adam brushed a hand through Kris’ hair for a few seconds. It felt good. Kris was just nearly fully melted into the couch cushion when Adam stopped and looked down at him. “This bother you?”

Kris glared then pedaled back when Adam shrunk back a bit. He reached his hands up and pulled Adam’s hand back down, making his palm slap against Kris’ scalp and Adam blink at him. “No, I was enjoying it actually.” He kept eye contact with Adam until he felt fingers going through his hair again. He sighed and smiled, moving closer to Adam, filling in any space between them and closing eyes and letting Adam’s fingers work.

“Hey…” He opened his eyes to see Adam smiling fondly at him. “You fell asleep for a bit…”

Kris blinked and stretched, humming happily when he felt that Adam’s hand was still entangled in his hair. He nuzzled his face into Adam’s shoulder and closed his eyes again. “’zat a prolem?”

Adam chuckled. “Well, not if you mind sleeping on the couch and waking up with a kink in your neck.”

Kris grinned. “Just have you work it away in the morning.” He paused for a moment and looked up at Adam. “Sorry.”

Adam tilted his head. “For?”

“Assuming.” He settled back into place, trying to blink away the last bits of sleep. He yawned and grimaced before slumping into Adam. “I shouldn’t just assume you’d do that for me.” He paused another beat of a moment and flinched. “And I shouldn’t just assume that I’d be staying here.” He held back the sigh that wanted to come out - he didn’t really want to leave, this was the most relaxed he’d been in a long time - and tried to stand up, away from Adam.

A hand curling around his side and pulling him back to a jean clad hip stopped him. “You shouldn’t just assume that I wouldn’t want you to stay here, either.” Kris turned and bit back a gasp at the look Adam was giving him. It reminded him of back at the bar, only… there was a mix of something there. There was want and lust, that was clear but… maybe just… nah, couldn’t be. His expression softened, blue eyes melting from the near black color to an ocean blue Kris could drown in. “If you want to stay, you can.”

“I do!” O-kay… let’s try that with a bit less enthusiasm? Kris felt himself blushing and ducked his head, probably not before Adam could see, and cleared his throat. “I… I would like that, yeah.”

Adam chuckled and pressed a kiss to Kris temple. He stood up, pulling Kris with him. His head thudded inside his chest at the thought of being in bed with Adam again. He wasn’t sure if it was anticipation or nervousness. Adam stopped in front of the bedroom and turned toward Kris. He had an odd look in his eyes now, a weird mix of kindness and hurt that Kris didn’t like. “I’ll go get you a pillow and a blanket.” He gestured toward the couch when Kris gave him an odd look. “I’ll help you set up the pullout.”

Oh. Kris felt a wave of embarrassment and guilt at that, letting go of Adam’s hands and watching him disappear into the bedroom. I never thought about how he’d feel after I left then. He probably wanted to wake up with me there… He let out a breath and stared into the room, watching Adam bundle together the items. Everyone has been saying I need to get better, and… if I’m going to get better at this relationship stuff… I need to push at my boundaries a little bit.

Drawing in a deep breath, Kris settled his mind, waiting for Adam to walk back before announcing to the room. “I think I’ll stay here tonight, actually.”

Adam actually looked surprised for a moment, then that hurt/kindness look came back and Kris had to stop himself from crossing the room to force it away somehow. “I thought after the last time you weren’t comfortable with that.” He lowered his eyes to the bundle in his arms. “I don’t want to push things too far…”

What, am I going to break if I share a bed with you? Luckily, he didn’t saw that out loud. He shook his head. “I am perfectly fine with it.” He set his jaw and slipped off his shirt and jacket, making a point of how fine he was doing this. Adam looked up at him and down to the bundle again before Kris yanked the pillow and blankets out of his grip and tossed them to the floor. He nodded his head to the bed. “Get in.”

Adam stared at him open-mouthed, lips moving without any sound, before smiling slightly and nodding, stripping off his jeans and climbing in. Kris took another breath before walking over to the bed, peeling the denim from his legs and moving under the sheets beside Adam. When Adam’s arm came around his waist, pulling them close together, it was still weird, just like before.

This time, though, Kris pushed the thoughts of how different this was, and ideas of leaving the bed out of his mind, and moved as close to Adam as he could get. He was rewarded with Adam’s smiling lips against his hair as he closed his eyes and fell asleep easier than he had in years.

Mmm… Adam blinked awake, feeling soft skin against his and lips and teeth working at his throat. It took him a few moments to recognize that Kris was in his bed, rubbing up against him, working a hickey into his skin, marking him. He groaned and Kris released the skin from his mouth to chuckle and press his mouth against Adam’s.

“Morning.” He half murmured into Adam’s mouth, his tongue caressing Adam’s, sending shivers down his spine. He felt Kris’ hand snaking under his t-shirt, slow and gentle and nothing like back in the bar, his fingers tickling the skin of his stomach. Kris licked his lips - licking Adam’s in the same swipe - and stared up at Adam with his big brown eyes. “Can I…?”

Adam just nodded, once, and raised his arms to let Kris pull his shirt off. Immediately after Kris ducked back down, his mouth skimming from the mark already blossoming on his neck - it was sensitive, the little brush of lips making his hips buck up against Kris’ body, making both of them groan - and trailing down over the bridge of his collar bone, pausing in the dip to lick and suck at the skin for a few moments before moving further down and scraping his teeth over a nipple, tongue laving over it following Adam’s pained gasps.

“Kris…” Adam bit into his lip, his hands bunching up the sheets as Kris moved a bit further down. “Kris, no, wait…”

Kris lifted his head up, his eyes gone lust-black. He licked his lips and smiled. “What is it?” His voice was thick, rough, sending more shudders along Adam’s skin.

He swallowed; he really hated saying this. “I don’t know if… we should do this. Not yet.” He closed his eyes; it made things worse, not seeing Kris but being able to focus on just his breath washing over Adam’s skin, hands on his sides, lips just barely tickling the skin of his stomach. “I want to, god, I want to.” Kris’ fingers tightening on his waist at the break in Adam’s voice didn’t help.

Kris was quiet for a moment, then he sighed and sat up, nodding. “Yeah, right.” He shook his head a bit then looked down at Adam - his gaze was still lust soaked, but they seemed to be a bit more determined now than anything else. “Just…” His lips softened into a smile. “You looked so… sexy and innocent when you were asleep and your neck was stretched back and it was practically calling to me.” He licked his lips and chuckled softly. “I couldn’t resist.”

Hmm… Adam grinned and smoothed his hands up Kris’ thighs, lightly gripping at his hips - where the ghost of the bruises he left were there, and was that ever a turn on. I think I like this Kris. He’s sweet, with a kick. He nodded his head back, giggling when Kris obeyed the silent gesture and leaned down to meld their mouths together. I wonder… if this is how he really is under everything.

Not that I’ll ever get to know. He held back his flinch at that. There was a part of him that was getting rather impatient to understand Kris a bit better, but he wouldn’t, he couldn’t force Kris into telling him. He’d just have to make himself wait until Kris trusted him a little better. And… when he does tell me… I can’t try and fix him, that’s something for him to do. A scary thought popped up in his head then, almost making him freeze against the lips still moving against his. And… if he doesn’t want to change… if he just wants to be this wild child for the rest of his life… He let out a breath as Kris pulled away, a barely hidden smirk on the other man’s lips. I’m okay with that…

He swallowed and smiled back, giving Kris’ hips a little squeeze and earning more kisses. I just hope he doesn’t want that…

Kris buried his face into Adam’s chest, breathing deep and closing his eyes. He was starting to admit that… yeah, he was… he had a thing for Adam, past the physical. Adam really was just a sweet, kind person. Even after Kris got the both of them all hot and bothered, Adam only took it as far as kissing and a few caresses. And even then, those touches were always above the waist, just a palm smoothing down the skin over Kris’ inclining stomach - and even when Kris thought he would say something about that, Adam kept quiet, just muttering how pretty Kris was. And more than that, Adam seemed to care about him, and at the same time he cared about Kris’ privacy. He was caring without being invasive, and Kris just really liked that about him.

“Mmm… I’ll see you later?” Kris muttered through Adam’s t-shirt, hearing a soft chuckle from above and feeling it rumble through his bones.

“Yeah, of course.” Freckled lips pressed against his forehead. “I’ll call you.” He paused a moment, staring into Kris’ eyes and tracing fingers along his jaw. “So, you sure you don’t want a ride?”

Kris nodded and untangled himself from Adam. “Yeah, I’m sure.” He spun around with his hand on the door handle, just in time for Adam’s lips to press against his again before he left.

Biting down his smile, Kris walked out of the building, running his hand through his hair before he forced himself to move away and go back home.

He was distracted, not thinking how he usually would’ve out on the streets and being cautious. He didn’t feel the stare of someone watching him, like he usually would. Those hard blue eyes watching him moved away back into the alley, waiting until later that night, keeping an eye on the apartment as Kris disappeared inside.
