Tell me about the ring. Is that a pink sapphire? I should getting around to putting up pictures of the ring I got asdr83. Also not a traditional diamond engagement ring.

Ruby actually. I'm not a fan of diamonds; I think they're boring and overvalued. Rubies are actually valuable and pretty.

(I also think Becky looks good in red :)

I agree about diamonds, and Amanda has a thing against them, socially. When I picked out her ring I had them replace the accent diamonds with CZ's for that reason. I gav her a sapphire as blue is her favorite color, and it used to be the stone of choice for engagement rings in the victorian era, before the diamond cartel got out of hand. (Which is why my first thought was that you'd gotten a pink sapphire.)

We're also anti-diamond for ethical reasons, but I do think they can look very nice, especially as accent stones, but are still overrated. I paid the jeweler an extra $100 to have the diamonds in Jon's ring replaced with saphires, and the ring looks better now anyway.

My ring is diamonds, but it's an antique so there's less of an ethical issue there. It's also a family antique, so it's easier on the wallet as well :P
