I couldn't pick my favourite Tortall character btw, it is too hard.
She is self-conscious, about her looks as well as what other people think about her. She isn’t the most beautiful, or charming and she doesn’t do well in social settings and has had to deal with people rejecting her all her life. Who can’t relate to that?

Oh, yea! I am not sure why that is, lol. I think it may be a testament to Tamora Pierce's skills at characterization, though.

THIS^ This may be why I love her so much.
"She comes into a rebellion that was already fully fledged on its own, one that belonged to the Raka? She teaches them some new tricks, but as Tamora Pierce makes her realise in the book - she's no their saviour. She's just a new piece on the board, and if she hadn't been there, Kyprioth would probably have appeared to the Copper Islanders."
We will have to talk about this later, actually, because I love that Tamora Pierce did this. It is clear that Aly has a particular set of skills they are using, but that it is their rebellion, and they don't need ( ... )
