i like the idea that each universe is not only au but involves a different group (or at least i'm assuming that was the idea). if you ever have the time/inclination, i think you should try to keep working on it :)

yup! that was the idea (though i was planning on having girl!beast as the fifth haha). thank you for the feedback, it's been a while since i've last written anything, let alone posted it anywhere. :)

it's raining the first time changmin kisses jessica. it's quite possibly the most unattractive moment of his life-his skin tinged orange by her umbrella, his hair plastered to his face, his shoes making disgusting squelching noises every time he moves-and for a terrifying, heart-wrenching moment, he thinks she'll pull away. but then she presses closer, sighing into his mouth, and changmin wraps his arms around her. neither of them notice when her umbrella falls out of her hands.

"this is pointless," krystal groans, dropping her pen. it lands on the floor with a noisy clatter. "my brain just doesn't do math. it never has and it never will

it's disgustingly cliche, but there's no other way he can describe it. he looks into her eyes, and it's as if everything around him freezes except for them. in the space of a second, he's memorized every strand of hair, every eyelash, every line on her palm. he knows by heart the way her eyes widen and her lips part. he can feel her breathing speed up because it's echoed in his own chest

48 hours later, changmin is sitting at a coffeeshop a few blocks from his university and sipping nervously at a 16oz caramel mocha, no whip. he'd shown up ten minutes early, which was proving to be a bad idea because the more he waits, the more nervous he gets. fifteen minutes past their meeting time, he's almost convinced himself that she wasn't going to show up and that he should just leave when the bells on the door jingle. he looks up to see jessica standing there, dropping her bag onto the seat and smiling at him. "sorry, there was more traffic than i expected. be right back." changmin heaves a sigh of relief as she walks to the counter and whips out his phone to tell yoochun to cancel the pity party, she was just running late. he gets a lonely dongsaeng hwaiting!!! ^^ in reply

krystal greets him at their next tutoring session the next week by smacking him with a magazine. "hey, what the hell-"
"you're an idiot," she informs him. "you both are. i knew this would happen."
changmin frowns. "nothing happened, krystal."
"that's my point." kystal scowls at him as she sits down. "you're both too boring to make a move. and now it's too late because she's leaving tomorrow."
his heart plummets. "tomorrow??"
"yes." krystal studies him for a moment, then asks, "how much do you like her? be honest."
changmin swallows hard. "i…a lot. a lot a lot." he shifts uncomfortably as krystal stares at him for another minute before apparently coming to some sort of decision.
"she walked me here today," krystal tells him. "god only knows why, since it's raining so hard, but if you ran, you could probably catch her. she's got an orange umbrella."

oh my god i absolutely love this! this is one of my favorite het pairings, ever. and this doesn't change it at all. i love how your writing shows how changmin is still kind of innocent and jfljj jessica is really prettily written (which sounds like a fail comment i know) but, thank you for sharing! this excites me so much, i hope you finish/post it so i can leave a proper comment someday!

sfknglds i'm glad you like it! i've never even really thought about this pairing before, but it randomly came to me when i was trying to think of what to write for the challenge, so i'm really glad that it's one of your otps :D and i think it's mostly done? i might reword it at some point, but this is the basic plot. and that's not a fail comment lmao, jessica is always pretty~
