I need to see some snow this winter. Only time I saw some last year was in April and it was that lousy brown slushy gunk.

You aren't really in a snow climate. Aren't you going somewhere snowy for New Years?

Umm... you can console yourself with reveling in the number of colds I'll have this winter thanks to all the three year-olds?

*looks longingly at skis in the corner*
*frowns in the general direction of almost snowless peaks*

Yes, I'm up obscenely early (5.30 here). No, I don't care. It's nice picturing you in your cute skiing cap, peaceful among all the snow. :-)

Why are you up so early, anyway? I ought to be going to sleep, myself, for another day with hopefully no kids tomorrow.

Wanted to say goodbye to someone who's leavin' on a jet plane... but that's OK, since he's bringing me books. :-)

And I've usually found that skiing cures sleepiness and/or a hangover remarkably well.

Well, if kids show up, it'll be funny, because it's just me and the other new girl. We've both been "trained," but neither of us have actually seen a little one yet. When it comes to working with kids, theoretical training is worth not much. I'm not so sure why my supervisor thought this schedule was a good idea.

Coincidently, Top Gear reviewed the Element just at the weekend (though it may have been a repeat I was watching). Basically, the entire segment was a plea to Honda to release the car in the UK, because Honda had decided that they had enough range of models in the UK, but the Top Gear people all thought that the Element was the best and coolest Honda ever. They even brought it to a lawn bowling club to let all the old folks (the typical Honda driver in the UK) have a look at it. To a person, they decided they didn't like it as it was too 'cool' for them (which was Top Gear's intention).

Obviously, jealous about skiing too but I can console myself that I'm going in March, to La Plagne which is about 2 hours from Lyon, Grenoble and Geneva. I went to TK Maxx to get all of my gear. Hit the wallet a bit, but at least this time I both had a good idea what I need and know for a fact that I'll be using it again :)

Glad to hear things are good :)

Now that the radiator hose and the engine are friends again, I love my Element.

Funnily, although Honda designed it for the youth market adventurer type, I think it sells best with baby boomers here. My theory on that one is that, even as a dirt-cheap SUV, most of their target market is out-priced. Baby boomers like to pretend they're still in their twenties, though, and it's got loads of great features, too.
