news every
Opening
They chat a bit about spring allergies and ask Koyama if he has any. He answers explaining that he has sugi (Japanese cedar tree) allergies in spring.
Sports
They report on Matsuzaka (a baseball player who plays for the American MLB Red Sox) who has started spring training with his American team. But even though he is the most famous Japanese member of the Red Sox, he's not the only one. There are actually three Japanese players on the Red Sox team now. After the VTR, Koyama comments that in the tough world of American baseball it's probably nice to have fellow Japanese with you to support each other. That seemed to be the case in the video since they got along so well (and complained together about how much the American coaches made players do running practice XD).
Weather
Although it snowed most of central Japan and Tokyo early last week, by Wednesday it was already warming up. Wednesday went up to 11 degrees in the afternoon and Koyama commented that when he was outside around noon it felt quite warm. 11~12 degrees is actually the average temperature for mid-March! They then show a video about northern areas of Japan which are warming up as well-- snow that's been frozen for months is finally starting to melt. At the end of the video Koyama comments that it's getting harder to pick what coat to wear everyday because you never know what the weather will be like.
Yamaguchi Sugano Dam
Koyama helps introduce a story about Sugano Dam which currently is very low on water. A waterfall has appeared where normally there is none because the surrounding water has fallen so low. Factories in the area are doing their best to cut down their water usage. However, the area has a lot of factories for paper and paper towels which normally use a lot of water. Things are getting tight for them. People suspect the reason the water is low now is largely because of the hot summer last year, in which there was very little rain. Now they just hope that once the winter snow melts they'll be able to refill the dam.
Bus Tours
There is a special video report on awesome and cheap bus tours from Tokyo. For just around 8,000 yen you can take a one day trip to Nagano or other northern prefectures for all you can eat crab and a relaxing afternoon in a hot spring.
Ki ni Naru
Koyama takes a look at the life of a 27 year old single girl who works in a hospital ER. She started working there last April. She's working hard but there's still a lot she needs to learn and she's still often scolded by her senpai at work.
Nine years ago, the hospital she works at got its own Doctor Heli! Koyama got to go inside and take a look at what the helicopter looks like inside. The young lady being interviewed, Watanabe, sometimes has to use this to go treat or transport patients. Watanabe goes to pick up a patient who got caught in a housefire using the Doctor Heli later in the video.
The ER is very stressful since you never know when a patient will come. She explains to Koyama that sometimes she doesn't get to eat lunch until nighttime. And once every three days they have to be on for a 24 hour shift.
Even as Koyama interviews her during her "break", a call comes in. She lives just 15 minutes from the hospital in case anything happens and she has to rush there.
