Five Things Monday

We're looking at the amount of money we'll need to take out in a loan to "do it right" when remodeling our current house. It's moving beyond daunting into staggering. Of course these are all just guesstimates based on our limited knowledge of actual contracting costs and time frames. We'll be keeping costs down where we can, but there's only so ( Read more... )

I found Fit Day to be greatly helpful and instrumental in learning portion control to help maintain or lose weight. It's very flexible - you can track anything you want: be vague and at-a-glance or get down to the most minute detail about how you're exercising and eating to see if you're burning more or less than you're taking in.

I'm on the vague end of the spectrum. I like to track what I'm eating/exercising for only about 2 weeks to see if I'm on track and what I need to adjust.

If it makes you fell any better, I acci-purposely blew our $1200 Bush tax return bump on our perpetual house remodel. It only took me 2 days to do it. But we almost have another room done...

We haven't received ours' yet, and that reminds me to warn Kowgirl about not spending it thinking I deposited magic money she's convinced I'm withholding.

We're working out how to do this in stages so it won't be such a godawful expense all at once. It just seems like every time we open a wall, it ends up costing us a new car.

I hear you. We've uncovered plenty of surprises in our old house.

Do you have a construction salvage place nearby (you must in Seattle!)? That's saved us a bundle on things like ceramic tile for the bathroom...
