[FIC] Like Fine Wine - PG-13 - 1158

Dec 26, 2010 15:09

Title: Like Fine Wine
Author: koushi
Pairing: Eames/Yusuf
Rating: PG-13
Word count: 1158
Disclaimer: I do not own Inception or any of its characters.
Summary: Years later, Eames and Yusuf meet again by chance. An attempted rekindling of their shared flame with nostalgia aplenty.
Warnings: Angst and more bittersweet angst.

He was older now-they both were-but Eames’ rugged handsomeness hadn’t changed. Where there once was smooth skin there now were fine lines, and Yusuf knew that under his sportcoat he wore his scars like badges of honor, a testament to the hardships he’d experienced on the run. )

genre: romance, fic, eames/yusuf, genre: angst, rating: pg-13, char: yusuf, char: eames

Awww this was sad but lovely. Poor Eames, I hope he doesn't relapse after that. And poor Yusuf too.
(I have 500 words of the fic I was talking to you about last night. :D )

I told you angst would be my next stop, didn't I? ;)

And OMG, words can't describe how much I'm looking forward to seeing them in action. :D

I had this smile growing on my face the whole way through this, and then Anjali showed up and it immediately became a D: face. There is not enough D: in the world to express my sadness. ;_;

On a more serious note, I really, really love the way you write them together. I don't think I've seen you write Yusuf before? In any case, I love his voice. Both of them, so, so much. This is sweet and a little sad, but honestly Eames can't expect Yusuf to just wait forever. Even if I kind of want him to as well.

And this is bizarre, but I was literally imagining a situation exactly like this last night before falling asleep. Only instead of Yusuf getting married, they had I-missed-you-so-much-you-bastard sex and fell asleep.

I had him in my NaNo, but he wasn't a big part. I LOVE writing Yusuf though; he is just so funny and adorable and intelligent.

Also the Secret Santa posted yesterday. *coughcough*

That is pretty bizarre! Apparently we are on the same ~wavelength.

SHHHH, YOU AREN'T SUPPOSED TO TELL.

I should have known. I'm surprised it isn't more violent (lol), but there is a lot of metaphorical language in there that should have clued me off. SNEAKY KOUSHI.

Resonance of the mind. :)

There I screened it for now. :P

And nooo *blush* not everything I write is violent, I swear! XP I'm actually trying to tone down the metaphorical language lately, too. It seemed neater (although futile).

I loved this, it was just so full of melancholy and longing and that gentle touch Eames gave Yusuf.... torn between pitying Yusuf because of how Eames dragged him along, and pitying Eames because maybe he did want to commit to Yusuf.

<333 it was brill, babes, very good work!

I really love the way you write them. So sue me, I couldn't resist and peeked at this. I love the regret on Eames' part, the character development there, and the way I feel you've really got his voice down in his dialogue. And the dialogue! I really like the rhythm to their dialogue, the very easy old-friends kind of pattern to the way they reminisce and respond to each other.

And Anjali. KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI. Sorry, that's the first thing I thought of when I saw Anjali. Can't be helped. It's sad, but I like it. The natural consequences thing, because Yusuf didn't just pine. He moved on. Sometimes that happens, and there aren't too many fics that go in that direction. Good job, mate! :D

Dialogue is one of my favorite things to write, especially for Eames and Yusuf because of the friendly yet snarky banter they have going on. Thank you so much, and I'm glad you enjoyed it. :D

It is a rare moment in life when I am really surprised by a story. There are times when I'm like "oh, okay, that was kind of surprising, I am supposed to be surprised, mmkay" and then there are times where I'm like "WHAT THE HELL WHAT WAS THAT"? This story falls into the actually surprised category. The twist in the story really caught me off guard, and in a good way. It didn't seem out of the blue, as you described how Eames and Yusuf were getting older - you kind of set up for the future and what the future brings (i.e. family), but it was subtle and when I read "my wife, Anjali", I actually had a double take ( ... )
