RPG-related poll, come one come all and vote!

Let's say you're playing an RPG, and you come upon some badass new piece of equipment that almost all of your party can use. How do you decide who'll get it?
As a longtime RPG player, I've been curious as to how other people consider this question, so I decided to make a poll.

As a note, favoritism is for standard RPGs. In SRPGs I generally have a compulsive need to use everyone, so gear goes where it's most needed.

I went with "The character who'd get the biggest stat boost from it", though if that character isn't part of the active party, too bad.

Sometimes "My favorite gets first pick of everything" plays a role, but only if whatever they're wearing can be handed down to someone else so the overall stat gain for the party isn't hurt.

I've been considering taking a Hand-Me-Down approach next time I play a game where this applies, just as a change of pace.
